Let’s have some real talk over tea, ok?

We’ve all been there—brimming with excitement about a goal, only to feel like we’re pushing through molasses. One minute, you’re ready to take over the world (quietly, of course), and the next, you’re asking yourself, “Why haven’t I started yet?” Well, my fellow introverts, it’s not you—those sneaky roadblocks standing in the way.

If your fear of success is sipping on your confidence, let’s break down how to recognize those pesky blocks. Grab your favorite tea (I’m steeping Lemongrass as we speak), and let’s get into it.

1. The ‘Too Much’ Block: Am I Overdoing It?

Here’s a fun introvert problem: the fear of being “too much.” We worry that we’ll steamroll everyone with our ideas and ambitions, so instead, we stay quiet. It’s like making tea and being afraid you’ve over-brewed it. Trust me—you’re not overdoing anything.

What to do: Start taking small, deliberate steps toward your goal. There’s no need to boil the ocean—just warm up one cup at a time. You’re not “too much;” you’re just perfectly brewed for those who get your flavor.

2. The Overthinking Block: The Analysis Paralysis Trap

I see you staring at the kettle, wondering if you added the right amount of leaves or if your life choices are wrong. Welcome to analysis paralysis—where we overthink every detail until we’ve effectively over-brewed our dreams.

What to do: Set a five-minute timer—no more, no less. That’s your decision-making window. Just like you wouldn’t leave a tea bag steeping for an hour (please tell me you wouldn’t) 🍵, don’t let your ideas sit in limbo. Make a choice, sip, and move on.

3. The Spotlight Block: Fear of Being Seen

Oh, the terror of success! 😨 The part no one talks about is that being successful often means people will notice you. For introverts, this can feel like stepping on stage when you’d rather curl up in your favorite chair or bed with a book and a cup of tea.

What to do: Ease into visibility at your own pace. Think of success like hosting a tea party—start by inviting a few close friends before opening the doors to the entire neighborhood. Gradually build your confidence without feeling under the spotlight all at once.

4. The Perfectionist Block: Waiting for the Perfect Time

If I had a tea bag for every time I waited for the “perfect moment,” I’d have a lifetime supply by now. We all do it—waiting for the stars to align, for the kettle to be at precisely 212°F, before moving. Spoiler alert: that perfect moment doesn’t exist (and lukewarm tea is still tea, right?).

What to do: Start before you’re ready. Imperfect action is still action. Even if you stumble, you’ll be leagues ahead of where you were by just waiting for perfection. So pour the tea, lukewarm or not, and take a sip.

5. The Comfort Zone Block: It’s Cozy, but Stale

Ah, the beloved comfort zone 🙂. It’s like that familiar, calming chamomile tea you’ve had a thousand times. But deep down, you know you want to try something bolder—maybe a spicy chai? Staying in the comfort zone feels safe, but let’s be honest—it’s a little stale, and you make no progress.

What to do: Challenge yourself to try something new, even if it’s just a little stretch. You don’t have to leap out of your comfort zone—just dip a toe into something that scares you. Growth comes from sipping that bold chai, even a little spicy.

So, what to do: Steep Success at Your Own Pace

Listen, there’s no rush to conquer the world. Success is like tea—it takes time to steep. But it’s also not going to brew itself while you sit there waiting for the perfect conditions. Recognize your roadblocks, break them down individually, and move forward. And whenever you feel stuck, just make yourself a cup of tea. Nothing says “I’m in control” like a good cup of something warm and soothing.
